I’ll start with a brief history: back in 2016(?) I saw an article in the Lamorinda Weekly about your group and its efforts in getting the area recognized as an AVA. I had read the piece right about the time I was contemplating what to do with our sloped, south facing hillside in the St Mary’s Estates subdivision that had been rotovated for a number of years every summer so I felt we had all the right conditions for grapes.
I had some other landscaping work being done and that company “had a guy” who installed small and hobby vineyards. They put me in touch with him and he turned out to be a retired Wente guy – the rest is history as they say.
We added some Cab vines later too, in an effort to ensure that we produce at least 1000 lbs of grapes a year. We have been using Page Mill Winery in Livermore to create custom crushes for us and the reviews thus far have been positive.
I’ve had plenty of ideas to move things forward as a small business venture but I am currently backed up with enough wine to last us way beyond personal consumption and gifts to friends. I feel that we may give away or sell off our grapes from this year’s harvest so it was in our interest to join up with you all and take advantage of your classifieds section for that. I’m always open to suggestions/information and look forward to the meetings as a way to expand our horizons.
