Hello there, new here after perusing for a bit, and new to the Lamorinda area as well.
We want to plant a small section of our backyard in Moraga, a slope with some vines. Probably around 40-55 vines. The goal is not commercial production but treating it as a rewarding hobby along with our other edible gardening 🙂 I’ve reached out to some local companies that do vineyard installation but they will only assist on a much larger project. I’m confident about the planting and growing part, but am only learning some handy/home improvement skills recently. Does anyone have resources regarding construction of a trellising system that isn’t overly complicated or expensive to construct? I have never worked with steel cables or tools to fasten them to posts but willing to learn. Most of the trellising systems I have seen online would be overkill for the size of our planned vineyard. The slope has full sun southern exposure btw. Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
Kevin and Charles
Hi Kevin and Charles. Â Responding to your questions, there are resources available but from what you wrote I’m not totally clear what you are attempting to do and how you care to get it done. Â Suggest that we intro by phone to discuss? Â After which I can recommend several possibilities for you folks to consider.
I can be reached by phone at 925.997.1997 in Lafayette.

Hi, the book, The Organic Backyard Vineyard, by Tom Powers, has an illustrated guide for self installed vineyard installation that is easy to follow..
